Riot Shield

How this card works

Riot Shield is a 2-Eddie Gear that works two ways. The carrier gets +1 power and Blocker, so it can be spent to redirect a rival Unit's attack onto itself. Separately, while it is on the field your Rivals must pay +2 Eddies to use Go Solo.

MaxTac Heavy is a natural carrier: it costs 7 Eddies minus 1 for each rival Unit, so it gets cheaper as the board fills, and with the Shield it blocks at 9 power. Goro Takemura: Vengeful Bodyguard rewards the block, since each time a friendly Unit uses Blocker you may discard 1 to draw 1.

The FAQ notes the tax does not force anyone to Go Solo; it just raises the price of that decision. It only applies to Rivals, so your own Legends use Go Solo at the normal cost.
