How it wins
- Turn 3 board: a couple of cheap bodies such as Evelyn Parker: Scheming Siren, Secondhand Bombus or Dexter DeShawn: One Last Chance, wearing 1-cost Gear, with Jackie Welles: Pour One Out For Me face-up so each turn's first Blue Unit or Gear pulls one of your Gigs down by up to 2.
- You take control once your Street Cred sits below your rival's. From then on MT0D12 Flathead is unblockable and Evelyn draws for free, while Floor It and Reboot Optics make every attack of theirs a gamble.
- It ends one Gig at a time - seven at the start of your turn wins, whatever the values - with V: Corporate Exile carrying Dying Night: V's Pistol for a 10-power, two-Gig finish.
Strengths
- Thirteen cards cost 1, so even a two-card turn adds to the board and still leaves Eddies up.
- Cards keep coming from both colours: Jackie and Zetatech Faceplate as engines, Afterparty at Lizzie's and Floor It as one-off draws, and Evelyn on every attack.
- Viktor Vektor: Sit Down and Relax restocks the Gear: Calling him pulls up to two Gears costing 2 or less from your top five cards.
- Attacking into you is always a guess - Reboot Optics can stop a fight from defeating your Unit, Floor It takes a point of power off theirs, and any Unit becomes a Blocker for 1 Eddie with Mandibular Upgrade.
Weaknesses
- Your removal count is zero. Heywood Ripperdoc can break a Gear and Offduty Malfini can spend a Unit for a turn, but a big rival Unit stays put until it loses a fight.
- Your biggest bodies hit for 7-8, so two-Gig attacks need Gear - and Evelyn, at 0 power, takes no Gigs at all without it.
- Blocking never takes a Gig, so whole turns spent on defence run their clock and not yours.
- Only four cards cost 5 or more, which leaves the late game resting on Flathead and V.
Key cards
- Jackie Welles: Pour One Out For Me
- Runs the low-Street-Cred plan for free from the Legends area, and pays you a card whenever a Gig hits its floor.
- MT0D12 Flathead
- Your one reliable way past a wall of Blockers.
- Dying Night: V's Pistol
- Turns V into an Eddie engine (2 Eddies after each attack) while shaving your own Gigs down by up to 2.
- Zetatech Faceplate
- Converts every block and attack into a Gig nudge, and into a card once you hold three different Gig values.
- Floor It
- Lets you hold 1 Eddie up on their turn without wasting it, because the card replaces itself.
- Mandibular Upgrade
- Makes any Unit a Blocker for 1 Eddie, so your Gig area is never left open.
First turns
Keep: Keep a hand like Evelyn Parker, Mandibular Upgrade and Floor It: a cheap body with 1-cost backup.
Mulligan: Mulligan a hand like Zetatech Faceplate, Kiroshi Optics, Dying Night and Tetratronic Rippler with no Unit beside them.
- A sample opening puts Secondhand Bombus down off a sold card, then Evelyn Parker the next turn; with Jackie revealed, Evelyn's arrival also lowers one of your Gigs.
- Turn 3: Kiroshi Optics goes on Evelyn, so her attack now steals a Gig as well as drawing a card, and two Eddies stay open - their first real attack runs into Floor It or Reboot Optics. Delamain Cab lands on turn 4 and hits the Gig area from turn 5, readying an Eddie after every steal.
Common mistakes
-
Mistake: On turn 2 you roll the d12 for a big early Gig.
Better: Roll the d4, d6 and d8 first. Your Street Cred stays under theirs, which keeps Flathead unblockable and Evelyn's draws free, and the big dice arrive once Jackie and Dying Night can pull them back down.
-
Mistake: You spend every Eddie on Psycho Squad while two rival attackers are ready, and your five Quick cards stay stuck in hand.
Better: Cast Evelyn Parker for 2 instead of the 4-cost Squad and pass with two Eddies open - enough for Reboot Optics on their biggest fight, or Floor It with an Eddie to spare.
-
Mistake: Delamain Cab attacks a spent rival Unit.
Better: Send it at the Gig area. A steal readies an Eddie when your turn ends, and that Eddie is the Floor It you hold up through theirs.
-
Mistake: Heywood Ripperdoc breaks a 2-cost Gear while none of your Gigs shows a 2.
Better: Nudge a Gig onto 2 first - Afterparty at Lizzie's or a Zetatech Faceplate trigger moves it by 1 - then cast Heywood: the same Gear goes and you draw a card.
Matchups
| Against | Result | How it plays |
|---|---|---|
| Embracing Power (Arasaka) | Even | Arasaka wants to win fights with bigger, geared Units. They have no Quick cards, so Floor It and Reboot Optics swing those fights - but your low Street Cred switches on Minotaur. |
| Johnny / Panam / Viktor | Even | They want to out-gear you in combat, with no Quick cards, so your Blockers and Reboot Optics hold. Watch their Riot Shield (your Go Solo costs 2 more) and their Gilded Matón: by giving up one of their own Gears it defeats a Unit costing 3 or less - Secondhand Bombus, Evelyn Parker or Dexter DeShawn - so don't lean on a single cheap Blocker. |
| Kerry / River / V | Hard | They want to slow you with MaxTac Suppression Team - V can't attack on her Go Solo turn - and then outsize you with Placide: Voodoo Sentinel. Steal Gigs before their Cyberpsychosis turn. |
| Smasher / Dum Dum / V | Hard | They want to clear your small Units with Bonnie and Clyde (two at once if you lead by two Gigs) and hit with Animals Wrecker. Floor It, Reboot Optics and a chump block from Bombus buy the turns you need. |
| Jackie / Johnny / V | Even | They want Wraith Marauders chains, which need a stolen Gig to start. Keep two Blockers ready, because Corporate Surveillance can spend one. |
| Alt / Judy / V | Hard | They want to bottom-deck your Units - Pyramid Song handles power-0 Evelyn and Bombus - and race you for the lower Street Cred. Only one side's Flathead can be unblockable at a time. |
| Hanako / Jackie / Judy | Hard | They want a long game you can't win on cards, and Hanako's swaps fight you for the lower Street Cred. Press early with Flathead before Les Élémens and Placide arrive. |
